Scribbling in Time

Using a stylus and tablet, designs can quickly be created and exported to an code-friendly format.

Canvas for visualizing the time involved with writing and drawing.

What you gotta know is that I’ve wanted to have handmade drawings on website for a lonnngggg time. And some of the designs that excite me most on the web are those that do a really good job of immitating hand-drawn work in a digital setting.

But because it’s digital… we don’t need to settle for the compromise of just having something that looks like pencil on the page. We can actually make that pencil feel alive, as though it’s happening right before us. Now that. That’s the vision.

There’s a dev export mode available with the query param ?dev at the end of the URL. And it’s no coincidence I’ve made it awkard to access this feature—I haven’t published any docs for how it works! Maybe one of these days, but at least for now, the underlying tech works and that’s good enough for me to ship.
